Darwyn P. Fair, Esq., President

DARWYN P. FAIR founded the firm, Darwyn P. Fair & Associates in 1985. Mr. Fair has substantial experience involving general corporate, complex civil and criminal litigation. He has litigated extensively in the federal court system. In addition, Mr. Fair has substantial experience in federal bankruptcy matters, including corporate workouts and reorganizations. Mr. Fair's areas of practice include general corporate, real estate, commercial civil litigation, state and federal court, bankruptcy and collections. Mr. Fair also served as City Attorney for the City of Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Mr. Fair received a Bachelors of Science in Economics from The University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit Law School.

Mr. Fair is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (SBM), the Wolverine Bar Association (WBA), which is the local chapter of the National Bar Association (NBA). He served as President of the WBA during the 1992-93 term; Co-Chairperson of the WBA Attorney Referral Committee; Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee; member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer.

Mr. Fair served as Affiliate Representative and Regional Director for the NBA. He was a member of the NBA International Law Section and has lectured and spoken extensively on the topic of South Africa. Mr. Fair also served as the associate counsel for the NBA.

Mr. Fair has been a member of the SBM General Practice Section. He was a member of the SBM Representative Assembly, a member of the Law Practice Management Section, a member of the Character and Fitness Sub-Committee Panel and Scope & Correlation Committee. Mr. Fair was also appointed to the SBM Business Law Section-Technology Committee.

Mr. Fair has been active in community organizations including the NAACP and Detroit Urban League. Mr. Fair served on the executive committee and on the Board of Trustees for the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. Mr. Fair has also served on the Finance Committee of the American Heart Association of Michigan. Mr. Fair was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Simon House, Inc. Mr. Fair is currently a board member and Vice-President of Plymouth Educational Center.

Mr. Fair has been awarded the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory’s highest accolade: an AV rating.

Married to Volante for 25 years with a daughter, Jamila and son Darwyn, II, Mr. Fair is a member of and the attorney for Plymouth United Church of Christ and has served on the Deacon Board and various church committees. Mr. Fair is an advocate of children’s programs and has been a member and participant of the parent committee for the Southfield Falcons football program, Power Strokes basketball program and the Thunder basketball programs. Mr. Fair is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
